Amulet is made in a symbol of Ra's or Horus' eye with a whole for strings. Details are carved.
This type of amulet were made during all periods of Egyptian history. According to belief of old Egyptians, the person wearing the udjat eye (udjat, udjet, wadjet) was gifted with the strenght and protective power of Sun and Moon, two key elements of Egyptian mythology. They also had healing properties. According to one version of the emergence of the world, people were born out of the tear of God Ra.
Udjat eye was carried around the neck as a protective magic-symbol and was put with the body during the process of mummification. It is made of light green faience.
It is well preserved.
