The upper part of this unusual bowl is elongated and narrow, from the central part of the lower part the bowl gradually expands and then agains narrows all the way down to its bottom. Small handles are visible on both sides of the bowl. The whole lower part contains an ornament in the shape of a mesh structure. The central part of the belly is decorated with unidentified figure in a squirrel position with big ears and imposing eyes. At the bottom of the bowl, on the front side are two hands with fists, and on the back side there are legs. On the sides are parts of the body. This bowl was probably used in everyday life as a cosmetic bottle. It is probably found in a pre-dynasty grave where it is housed as a funeral equipment.
The female figure carved on this ancient bottle contains some similarities to the usual depiction of the godess Hator. However, it can not be established with certainty wheter it is a ancient representation of the godess Hator, or is it an unknown Egyptian person, probably a woman.
This bottle was probably made during pre-dynasty (Naqada II. - III., 3500 BC - 3000 BC) or early-dinastic (3000 BC - 2700 BC) period.
The bowl is well preserved.
